The surge of Vietnam Destination Wedding

In recent years, Vietnam has been rising as the favorite destination for foreign couples to hold destination weddings. Favored by Mother Nature with beautiful natural landscape, along with reasonable costs, Vietnam possesses the potential to compete with other destination wedding markets in South East Asia. This market not just pushes our country’s tourism but also provides growing opportunities for domestic vendors in the wedding industry.

Therefore, The Planners had been harboring to organize Vietnam Destination Wedding Congress 2024. Our vision for the event is to establish a practical platform connecting wedding vendors, a space for them to network, discuss and share their experiences. By discussing the trends and solutions, we hope to foster a learning environment that helps brands develop and elevating Vietnam’s wedding industry.

The first co-host of Vietnam Destination Wedding Congress

Regarded as the top tourism city in Vietnam with world-famous beaches, magnificent landscape and lovable lifestyle, Danang is officially the host city for the first edition of Vietnam Destination Wedding Congress. The venue chosen as the first co-host was none other than InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort – one of the most luxury resorts in Vietnam.

Participation of an international name

Based in the Philippines, Gideon Hermosa is a self-taught event stylist who has brought his vision and talent to weddings around the world, including Vietnam. His considerable experience in the wedding industry provided valuable information to our guest at VDW 2024 and helped building the process of elevating Vietnam’s wedding industry.

DAY 1 – Welcome Day

Vietnam Destination Wedding Congress 2024 opened with the exciting Welcome Day where the guests participated in various activities that hyped everyone up for the event.

Upon arriving to Danang and InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, they were warmly welcomed by the co-hosts and enjoyed the Cocktail Hour at La Maison 1888. From the very beginning, there is a visible atmosphere of excitement for a valuable networking and learning opportunities surrounding the guests.

As experienced wedding vendors, most of them have known and worked with the others for years, but this was the first time they got to be attendees at a platform of this format.

Entering the Welcome Dinner with a cheerful spirit, our guests participated in a multitude of activities to warm up the atmosphere.

Having enjoyed an amazing buffet prepared by InterContinental Danang and a couple of drinks in, the guests got to engage in entertainment activities such as bonfire, flash mob and sạp dance with countless photo sessions in between.

Having been cordially welcomed and enjoyed various bonding sessions, all 50 guests were set up for the excited mood heading into the main event the next day – the Conference.

Day 2 – Conference

Entering the second day of VDW2024, representatives of the most outstanding brands in Vietnam’s destination wedding market enthusiastically engaged in the two-session Conference.

The morning session, hosted by Danang Department of Tourism, discussed “𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬”. As experienced wedding vendors who have participated in numerous projects in Danang, the guests were locked in to hear directly from the authorities of Danang tourism.

The wedding vendors were all focused and excited to be informed of the city’s offers and incentives promoting destination weddings there.

In between the sessions, tea breaks and luncheon provided space for relaxing and networking.

Day2 277 - The Planners — Luncheon at Barefoot Restaurant

The afternoon session, “𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭”, was highlighted with the panel discussion featuring Mr. Gideon Hermosa – Creative Director of House Of Hermosa.

Hosted by Ms. Van Nguyen (founder of The Planners & VDW Congress) and joined by Mr. Moc Nguyen (founder of Moc Nguyen Productions) and Mr. Kim Pham (founder of Je t’aime Art), the panel discussion tackled various issues, such as managing clients’ expectations, utilizing social media and navigating trends.

The panel and table discussions contributed valuable inputs of forthright sharing from Mr. Gideon Hermosa and constructive presentations from our guests.

Collectively, the Conference fulfilled its mission of laying out a learning platform for wedding business owners to address their concerns, raise their ideas and learn from the others in an exciting atmosphere.

Gala Dinner

The Gala Dinner concluded the VDW 2024 on a high note, radiating warmth, inspiration, and boundless energy. Following two days of networking and collaborative discussions, our guests not only maintained their enthusiasm but grew closer together. Everyone shared a unified vision: to foster a stronger and more vibrant community among Vietnam’s wedding vendors.

#VDW2024 climaxed with the Gala Dinner held in the famous Reception Hall of InterContinental Danang. Taking inspiration from the mellow sunset on Danang’s sea, the peak of the 3-day Congress astonished our dear guests with its glamour and attention to details.

Guests were elegantly attired in black and white, showcasing some truly stunning ensembles. The event commenced with the lively Lion Dance, a cherished tradition in Vietnamese local events, which warmly welcomed attendees.

Throughout the night, numerous distinguished speakers delivered inspiring speeches, expressing their wholehearted support and encouragement for the organizing committee. These words of appreciation served as a great motivation for us, the organizing committee, particularly as this very first edition of the VDW Congress unfolded.

Valuable experience and knowledge were shared, friends and connections were made; the excitement for a long-lasting B2B platform for Vietnam’s destination weddings was visibly glowing in the joyous atmosphere on the last night of VDW Congress 2024.

After 2 days of networking and learning, the 60 guests from 30 of the most outstanding wedding brands in Vietnam rejoiced in an unforgettable night of celebration and emotions. We raised our glass to the first steps of elevating Vietnam’s destination wedding market and strengthening the bond between peers.
